Founded in 1992, Essex River Cruises and Charters is located on the salt marsh estuary in Essex, Massachusetts, just forty-five minutes north of Boston.

Through spring, summer, and the glory of the New England fall, we present timeless beauty in the midst of the everyday. May to October we offer regularly scheduled narrated cruises. The marsh itself is part of the Essex River, an intriguing natural work in progress. Formed 15,000 years ago by melting glaciers of the last Ice Age, the marsh serves as a feeding ground for many species of beautiful birds and abundant wildlife. For generations it has sustained boat builders, fishermen, clammers, entrepreneurs and characters of all sorts from the Agawam natives to the present residents. Certified to carry up to 100 passengers at a time, our fleet is fully equipped with restrooms and both boats are covered to protect you from the sun. We can also roll down screens or transparent sides when appropriate. We have plenty of free parking and buses are always welcome.
