BioBus at Maritime Gloucester
October 6, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Innovative BioBus comes to Maritime Gloucester for one day only! Climb aboard a solar-powered, state-of-the-art mobile microscope lab, to see the microscopic creatures of Gloucester Harbor. Maritime Gloucester hosts former intern and staffer, Mollie Thurman, and the BioBus on Saturday, October 6th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
BioBus is a nonprofit in New York City that has two mobile microscope labs. They travel to hundreds of NYC schools and teach kids about the microscopic world, often using plankton tows from the East River. The original BioBus was built from a converted 1970s transit bus ten years ago, and this summer, Mollie brought it home to gut and redesign the interior. This will be the debut of the freshly-rebuilt bus before Mollie takes it back to New York.
This event is suitable for kids ages 6 and up – and of course, adults too! Admission to the BioBus is free, and admission to Maritime Gloucester is 50% off.
