The portrait of Judith Sargent Murray will remain on display at the Cape Ann Museum through March 31, 2020 and will be accompanied by examples of Murray’s letter books on loan from the Mississippi State Archives, correspondence between her and President George Washington on loan from the Library of Congress, and examples of Murray’s published works including her book, The Gleaner, published in 1798.

Tom and T. M. Nicholas: A Father and Son’s Journey in Paint

On Exhibit through to April 12, 2020 Working with the Nicholas family of Rockport, Massachusetts, this exhibition explores the 40-year journey Tom and T. M. Nicholas have made together—as artists and as father and son. Works from numerous private collections will be showcased and a catalog with an essay by art historian Judith Curtis will be available. The Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation presents the annual celebration for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the historic 1806 Gloucester Meetinghouse, home of the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church at the corner of Church and Middle Streets. The program will unveil extensive research by the Cape Ann Slavery and Abolition Trust (CASAT) that documents the role that the industry of slavery had on Cape Ann from the 1700s until the Civil War.
